A new cash machine has been installed at Tomintoul and Glenlivet Discovery Centre marking the end of community fears over access to cash.

Following an access to cash review requested by Tomintoul and Glenlivet Development Trust, Link, the national cash machine network operator, agreed to install a cash machine at Tomintoul and Glenlivet Discovery Centre. The cash machine will be accessible 24 / 7 and complements existing banking services at the Post Office which relocated to the Tomintoul and Glenlivet Development Trust building in September 2022.

The cash machine is located on the outside of Tomintoul and Glenlivet Discovery Centre at 43 The Square, Tomintoul AB37 9ET, What3words //materials.moped.splash. It is free to use for most UK domestic banking customers.

Speaking on behalf of Tomintoul and Glenlivet Development Trust, Chair Tilly Smith said ‘we’re delighted to bring a cash machine to our village and this is a major boost for Tomintoul giving visitors and locals alike access to cash 24 / 7. Trust staff and directors have worked hard to ensure vital services such as the Post Office and visitor centre are retained in our rural community, and it’s great to add a Link cash machine to this important community facility’.

James Dunsmore, Territory Manager for Note Machine says, ‘Working in Partnership with Link, Note Machine are delighted to provide this facility to the Village of Tomintoul’.

Local business owner Andrea Polak said ‘We often get asked by visitors if there is anywhere they can withdraw cash, so the new cash machine at the Discovery Centre will certainly be a benefit to the village.  It will also be very helpful for locals if they need to withdraw cash when the Post Office is not open’.

Chair of Kirkmichael and Tomintoul Community Association (KaTCA) Ellie Richardson said ‘The Kirkmichael and Tomintoul Community Association (KaTCA) would like to thank the TGDT for their great efforts in securing a cash machine for Tomintoul. This is a fantastic addition to the village, supporting both the local community and the large number of visitors we see each year’.
