As the Northern gateway to the Cairngorms National Park, Tomintoul and Glenlivet is an area surrounded by stunning rugged landscapes, steeped in history and which boasts infinite opportunities for outdoor activities on every doorstep. The village of Tomintoul, on The Glenlivet Estate, was founded by the 4th Duke of Gordon and lies at a height of 1164 ft, granting it the title of ‘Highest Village in the Highlands’. Tomintoul is the most concentrated population of the wider Glenlivet area, together home to over 1,000 people.
‘Unspoilt’, ‘spirited’ and ‘open’ are a few of the words which the local community use to describe the area, making Tomintoul and Glenlivet a mecca for visitors. Here, climb our very own Munro Ben Avon, enjoy over 100 miles of walking and cycling routes, ride first class mountain biking trails, visit world class whisky distilleries, or try your hand at clay pigeon shooting, pony trekking, salmon fishing and enjoy winter sports at Lecht 2090. Tomintoul’s main street also has a great range of shops, including a deli, two art galleries, cafe’s, restaurants, a haven for whisky lovers and a gift shop.
