Meet Local Author Angela MacRae Shanks
Join us for an evening with author Angela MacRae Shanks as she talks about her debut novel “The Blood and The Barley”, a historical romance set in 1780 in Strathavon and Tomintoul (‘Balintoul’ in the novel) against a backdrop of illicit whisky smuggling.
The book is described as, ‘an evocative tale of kinship and survival, loyalty and love’ and is rich with historical detail and Highland lore. Angela’s maternal ancestors came from Tomintoul, Strathavon and the Braes, so this area has a long held fascination for her.
Come along to Tomintoul & Glenlivet Discovery Centre on Thursday 21st June, 7.00-8.30pm to find out more about Angela’s debut novel and the inspiration behind it.
Tickets are priced at £5 including wine and can be purchased in person prior to the event from Tomintoul & Glenlivet Discovery Centre, Tel: 01807 580760 and The Bookmark, Grantown on Spey, Tel: 01479 873433.
