Ebeth’s family shop in Square – ‘The Whisky Depot’

Ebeth and Bob Coutts recall her father's corner shop [now Clockhouse] in Tomintoul, to Jennifer Stewart and Malcolm MacGarvin. Her father produced new whisky (Campbell's Tomintoul Special, 100 % proof, a 'blend' of malts, sold for 70 shillings per bottle in 1960s) with Gordon & MacPhail of Elgin. (Distillery allowed them to call the shop 'The Glenlivet Whisky Depot'. Ross's Whisky Castle was separate.) No whisky sold on Sunday (1960s). Ebeth worked as teenager in shop on Saturdays-peasmeal! Getting round the Sunday trading! One for the road! (Part of the 2016 Sound Recording 'Ebeth & Bob Coutts - Shops & Snow in Tomintoul'.)
