Ackie Christie is interviewed by Brian Fowler and Rosemary Bushell on 21st April 2016, about his time 'beating' on Maj Waddington estate, for 15 shillings a day. A beater's strike! - for a pound a day. Hare soup was popular. Other summer farm jobs: hay cutting (corncrakes in harvest fields-last corncrake in area spotted in 1956.) Peat cutting in May.
