The Tomintoul & Glenlivet Digital Archive houses high resolution scanned historic photographs, clips from oral history recordings, local presentations, building and archaeological records from the Tomintoul and Glenlivet area. This online Archive allows us to showcase and celebrate the living heritage of the area now and into the future.

The Digital Archive began as an idea to store historic scanned photographs and oral history recordings collected by the local, community-led Tomintoul & Glenlivet History Group (TGHG) through a number of Memory Days, and other events held between 2016 and 2018.

Due to the high quality and popular interest in these photographs, it was felt they needed to be shared more widely with the local community and beyond, to help celebrate the area’s rich cultural and natural heritage.

Come and visit us in Tomintoul and Glenlivet and discover the area for yourself or visit places you used to know. We also have access points to the Archive in the Tomintoul & Glenlivet Discovery Centre, located on Tomintoul Square. At these access points you can view additional material about this area and its heritage.

The Digital Archive project is part of the National Lottery Heritage Funded Tomintoul & Glenlivet Landscape Partnership (TGLP) and has been led by the Tomintoul & Glenlivet Development Trust and TGHG. The TGLP is a £3.6m programme that will deliver 20 individual projects between 2017 and 2020 to improve, enhance and celebrate the heritage and landscape of this distinctive area.
